Reverend Dick and Judy Miller believe in miracles! They believe God to see things happen! We believe that together we can help others who are temporarily in need of assistance and can benefit from our ministry. Our slogan is "Feeding the Multitude on Faith and a Few Loaves and Fishes." We have thought about this ministry for years, but only recently we decided to "get out of the boat" and get things done. Our Lord is able to do abundantly above all that we say or ask! He only asks that we go into all the world and minister His Word. With Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry we have begun to do just that! "[Jesus] Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks and …they all ate and were satisfied." (Matthew 14:19,20; Mark 6:41,42; Luke 9:16,17)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION UPDATE

Since our Thanksgiving Food Distribution on November 19th, we have received numerous calls wondering if we still have food available, or if a box could still be picked up since the person who reserved the box could not get here on the date and time appointed. This has become a very disturbing observation to us for a couple of reasons.

First of all, we have spent many many hours trying to see that all went smoothly. We did plan the distribution by appointment only so that there was not someone left out, hoping to get a box, after spending a long time in line etc. If you called and we gave you an appointment, we expected you to be able to get here to get your box...either in your own vehicle, or by riding with another person. We feel this was not too much to expect from you. There were several of you who did not take the time to call us and let us know that you would not be here. If you did not show up, or call and say that you were not going to be here at the appointed time, or make arrangements to come at a different time, your box was given to the next person on the waiting list. This was only fair as there were many who were waiting to hear if a box might become available to them. At the end of the day, we checked over our list and called those on the waiting list, thus making some other families very happy.

If you had car trouble, or could not get here for you appointment, we tried to work with you. Some of you asked to come later that day. We were happy to help you out with rescheduling. BUT, to those who never called, but did not show up, you did lose out on your box. We expected you to be courteous and give us a call if you did not intend to be here at your appointed time.

We will be having a Christmas Distribution if we are able to get enough donations and/or food.  We require pre-registration and will tell you in advance a time to be here. We will try to work with you on the appointment time, however, when we are getting filled up, it may be necessary to schedule you without asking which time is best for you. When we can, we will give you a choice from a couple of times.

Since there was so much confusion last time, we will expect you this next time to pick up your own box. If you must ride with someone else to do so, you will need to make arrangements in advance. We will require an ID and signature from each of you. Under extreme circumstances, and for shut-ins or for elderly not having driving license etc, we will try and make a delivery to you. This decision will be made in advance of the Distribution Date and there WILL be a deadline for registration.

We certainly hope that you all understand why the rules must be in place before the next distribution date. We would love to help everyone in Cocke County and East Tennessee with food. We intend to do our very best to make everything run smoothly. We cannot promise you that all will get food, but we can promise you that we will continue to try to Feed the Multitude on Faith and a Few Loaves and Fishes, as our motto says.

We hope that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and we want you to know that we were happy to be a part of it!

God bless!

Reverend Dick and Judy Miller

LOAVES AND FISHES FEEDS 298 THIS WEEKEND

Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry fed 298 people this weekend with their Thanksgiving Food Distribution. Over 97 families were given Thanksgiving food boxes containing either a 3 pound ham or turkey. All the trimmings for the Thanksgiving dinner were included including: baked beans, cranberries, stuffing, mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, vegetables, jello, fruit or pudding and pie filling. Also included were bread or rolls.

We would like to thank all those individuals and businesses who helped make this a wonderful event. Without your help, we could not have done this. It takes all of us working together to continue to feed the people of Cocke County. A special thank you to Powerhouse Church in Cosby, the DAV in Newport, Amvets in Newport. Elijah's Food Pantry of White Pine, Mount Airy Methodist Church of Morristown, Cocke County Wholesale, Bush Beans,  Food City West and East of Newport, Save-A-Lot Grocery Store, and IGA Grocery Store. We salute you for your dedication and heart to feed the hungry.

We helped individuals and families from Cosby, Newport, Del Rio, Parrotsville, Morristown, White Pine and Hartford. We managed to feed all those who called except one family who failed to call us back to see if we still had food left.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all our wonderful and faithful volunteers and without their dedication it would have been impossible to accomplish the Food Distribution.

A Christmas Food Distribution is planned, again by appointment only. We will have a news release in the Newport Plain Talk before Distribution Day. Again, you must register before the event and the deadline date will be announced.

We need continued support with food drives from local individuals and businesses and churches to make these food distributions continue. Pass the word and see if we can't all make a difference!

God bless you all!

Appointments were required as we did not want to have anyone show up and then not be able to give them a basket. Our Christmas Distribution will also require pre-registration with appointments. Please call 423-487-4530 to register. Leave a message if nobody answers. Thanks and God bless!

THANKSGIVING REGISTRATION TO BE HELD SOON AT LOCAL GROCERY STORES IN NEWPORT AS WELL AS OTHER STORES...KEEP WATCHING THIS SITE FOR DETAILS

In the next week or so we will be setting up a table in front of local grocery stores  in Newport so that you may register for our Food Distribution as well as see a list of foods that we are trying to get for Thanksgiving. Hopefully we can accomplish a couple of things at one time...gather food as the Lord permits....and get folks signed up with appointments to get food.

We wish that we could accomodate everyone who is needing Thanksgiving food this holiday season, but we can't; however, with yours and the Lord's help, we will be able to provide for as may families as the Lord provides. As He provides the increase, we can feed more.

If you can help us, please call us at 423-532-0200 or 423-532-0300, or if you would like to register by phone. Oh, yes, please bring your own box for the distribution!

THANKSGIVING DISTRIBUTION IS NOVEMBER 19TH BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

Our Thanksgiving Food Distribution will be on Saturday, November 19th by appointment only. Please call Reverend Dick or Judy Miller at 423-532-0200 or 423-532-0300 to make an appointment.

Our thanks goes out to all who have helped by supporting our Yard Sale. It meant so much to be able to go out and buy some food to give away. Donations are still needed.

Freezers and refrigerators are also needed. We are a non-profit religious TN corporation and will be able to give you a receipt for the IRS tax deductions.
